Letting Kohli play it his way

India has one of the finest cricketers in the shape of Virat Kohli who has not only performed exceptionally as an individual in almost all the formats of the game but has, at the same time, pushed the name of the country ahead concerning the class and level of the game globally. However, for the last sometime now, the internal hierarchy of team India has witnessed a sudden shaking with matters going south. As a result, when the focus shifts from the game to the internal bickering, the effects were visible and were aptly noticed.
Being a senior player in the team and keeping in view his record, the BCCI cannot and should not try to entirely side-line Kohli, particularly, on the decision making and other measures taken aiming at streamlining and improving the performance of the team in general. Because if that is done, then, there are chances that the effects in reverse are manifested in his performance and might even tell upon the performance, delivery of the entire team.
No matter there is internal bickering going on in the team and whatever BCCI Chief Saurav Ganguly revealed earlier also suggests that all is not well with the administration, management of the team India. However, as of now, it appears that the legendary cricketer player who still has a lot of cricket in him needs more space and time in the BCCI decision making, because, putting him out of the ladder, can turn out to be consequential not only for the BCCI but the Indian cricket team as well.
There are no second thoughts on Kohli being at the top of India cricket because soon after he was replaced as the captain of the Indian team, there were already apprehensions that the team might not be able to perform well against South Africa and that is what happened. Now that India is all set to face Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, fingers do remain crossed concerning the performance of the team.
The ultimate goal of BCCI needs to be the overall improvement of the team India—and if it keeps stoking controversies, side-lining players who matter, then there are chances of cricket India witnessing a steep downfall. The need of the hour is of the collective efforts to be put in to lift the dipping nose to the level where it was earlier.
