DODA, MAY 01: A preparatory meeting for the upcoming World Red Cross Day celebrations scheduled on May 8, 2025, was held here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex today. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, who is also the President of the District Red Cross Society (DRCS). The meeting aimed to finalize the arrangements for the observance of Red Cross Day and to ensure coordinated efforts among different departments for the smooth conduct of the event.

Key agendas discussed included the organization of blood donation and medical camps in coordination with the Health Department. It was informed that blood donors will be from security and paramilitary forces.

Activities like symposiums, painting competitions, rallies, and cultural programs involving students and volunteers were also planned in collaboration with the education and youth departments. The Red Cross Day-2025 theme, “On the Side of Humanity,” was emphasized for awareness among participants.

Logistical arrangements such as tents, chairs, PA systems, banners, and refreshments were delegated to respective departments. It was decided that Red Cross funds would be utilized to cover the cost of refreshments and materials such as certificates and stationery, following proper verification and submission of certified bills. Certificates would be awarded to students excelling in various competitions,

The Deputy Commissioner urged all departments to work in coordination for the successful conduct of Red Cross Day, emphasizing its importance in public welfare. He also directed the concerned officers to initiate awareness and painting competitions in all government schools well before the event. In addition, the distribution of sports kits to the youth of sensitive areas was approved to encourage sports participation and discourage drug abuse. The rally route for the celebration was also finalized during the meeting.
