UDHAMPUR, JUNE 03: District Magistrate Udhampur today issued an order with mandatory instructions for owners on renting out property.
“All landlord(s), owner(s) of properties, attorney holder(s), person(s) in charge of properties in any capacity (hereafter called as owners) located in the jurisdiction of the District shall after the issuance of this order within a week’s time submit without fail the detailed particulars of the tenant(s) as per the prescribed Declaration Form to be signed by the owner and the tenant(s) to the concerned Police Station, either in person or by registered post addressed to the concerned Station House Officer (SHO)”an order issued by the DM reads.
It further stated that ‘The owners who have already let/sublet/rented out their house(s) or part(s) thereof to any tenant(s) on any date prior to the issuance of this order, shall submit the detailed particulars of the tenant(s) as per the declaration form to the concerned Police Station with immediate effect.’
As per the order all arrangements of letting or sub-letting the property like Paying Guest, tenants etc. shall be covered by this order.
“Owners who have allowed Jhuggies in their lands shall also be required to disclose the details as per the declaration form. Every SHO in Udhampur District shall maintain a separate register for such purpose and complete the process by enlisting tenants, especially outsiders within a period of two weeks” the order reads further.
Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under Section 223 and other relevant provisions of the law.
