The government has been claiming high and tall about the new industrial policy, assuring a boost to the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir. But, some steps need to be taken to ensure the survival of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Some of the factors and genuine concerns of the people affiliated with the sector have been ignored in the new industrial policy introduced by the government recently, thus leaving the MSME to lurch at large.

One of the pivotal issues that need to be addressed is the comprehensive plan for the marketing, which is the only tool available with MSME to sustain and survive in the present circumstances.

One fails to understand how MSME would be able to survive when their industries would have to compete with the top units in the market as the lack of marketing plan would certainly push them to the wall.

The survival of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in Jammu and Kashmir would likely to get affected as their products and other related things would not be known to the consumers and thus would only drain their money and thus could possibly find it hard to sustain for a longer period.

One cannot even imagine the survival of any business unit when there is no marketing and awareness with regard to the products in the marketplace, thus there is every possibility that the sale would decline to a large extent.

In the market, one has to bring attention of the consumers towards the products so that the quality as well as the benefits would attract them and help in increasing the sale on the ground. Thus introducing new industrial policy without addressing the concerns of industrialists has resulted in hardships of the people affiliated with these units.

Therefore, in order to address their concerns and help them to come out of the trauma they are facing, there is a need to come up with a comprehensive marketing plan for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) to ensure their survival and sustenance at the present juncture. The government should consider taking steps in this regard at an earliest so that the local industrialists could heave a sigh of relief.
