KUPWARA, FEBRUARY 2: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting of the District Advisory Committee on Safe Food and Healthy Diets under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The meeting held a detailed discussion on a wide range of issues related to food safety across the district. Key areas of deliberation included the establishment and regulation of slaughterhouses, inspection of meat shops, hotels and dhabas; authorization of street food vendors, strengthening the food safety emergency response framework; relocation of high-risk manufacturing units from industrial estates, timely disposal of adjudication cases, implementation of Eat Right initiatives, and IEC activities.
Besides, enforcement measures such as inspections, sampling, prosecution and adjudication related to food safety, along with mechanisms for redressal of food safety incidents, were also reviewed in detail.
During the meeting, Tehsildars, Municipal Committees (MCs) and the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety were directed to inspect all slaughterhouses operating within municipal limits and residential habitations. They were further instructed to prepare and submit proposals for the immediate relocation of private slaughterhouses within their respective jurisdictions.
CMO, CAO, DPEO, AD FCS&CA, Tehsildars, AC Food Safety, Food Analyst and other concerned were present in the meeting.
