Qazigund, Sep 26: At least three non-local thieves were arrested by Kulgam police near Nayvug tunnel Qazigund on Tuesday and recovered stolen arms and ammunition from their procession, official sources said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Kulgam police arrested three non-local individuals, who were traveling in a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AJ-1027 at Nayvug Tunnel in Qazigund.
The vehicle was coming from Ladakh, they said.
Stolen Pistol, Pistol Magazine and 39 number of 9 MM rounds were recovered from their possession, official said, adding that the trio thieves had stolen the arms and ammunation from a police personnel, who is posted as the Personal Security Officer (PSO) to the Deputy Commissioner of Leh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Abid, son of Mohd Ramzan, hailing from Faridabad, Haryana, Mohammad Nizam, son of Mohd Himayat, a resident of Delhi and Jiyarul Shiek, son of Lal Chand Shiek from Kolkata, Murshidabad.
Further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the suspects’ activities, he added—(KNO)
