5 militants killed in twin gunfights in Budgam, Pulwama: IGP

Srinagar: A top Jaish-e-Mohammad commander was among five militants killed in twin overnight encounters in Budgam and Pulwama districts, police said here on Sunday.

Inspector general of police Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that two operations were launched during night at Chrar-i-Sharief and Naira areas of Budgam and Pulwama districts respectively.

He said that both the operations concluded with the killing of one militant in Budgam and 4 militants in Pulwama encounters respectively.

IGP said that a top JEM commander Zahid Wani and a foreign militant was among the five militants killed in the twin encounters.

He identified the Pakistani militant as Kafeel alias Chotu and termed the killing of militants as a major success for the security forces. (KNS)
