80th Independence Day celebrations evokes Patriotic Fervour across Samba District

SAMBA, AUGUST 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated across District Samba with patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and a strong sense of national pride, as people from all walks of life joined the celebrations to commemorate the nation’s historic journey and honour the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.

The day’s celebrations commenced with Mangal Dhwani, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the proceedings.
As part of the morning programme, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan ceremonially hoisted the National Flag at the District Administrative Complex, Nandani Hills, Samba. The programme commenced with the National Song, followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag and the National Anthem. The ceremony was attended by officers and officials of the district administration.

The main Independence Day function was subsequently held at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium, Samba, where the Deputy Commissioner hoisted the National Flag and took the salute from the impressive parade in the presence of SSP Samba, Anuj Kumar; Additional District Development Commissioner Samba, Champa Devi and other senior officers.

The proceedings at the main function commenced with the National Song, followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag and the National Anthem, in accordance with the prescribed programme.

The parade featured contingents from the police, security forces, government departments and educational institutions, presenting a disciplined display of unity, coordination and patriotic spirit. This was followed by a vibrant cultural programme presented by students, showcasing patriotic themes, India’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring spirit of Unity in Diversity.

In her address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the key developmental achievements and milestones of District Samba, acknowledging the coordinated efforts of various departments towards improving public service delivery, strengthening infrastructure, implementing welfare and development schemes and advancing the overall socio-economic development of the district.

Emphasising the importance of investing in the district’s youth and human capital, the Deputy Commissioner accorded special focus to the ongoing Nasha Mukt campaign, stressing that a drug-free society is indispensable for building a healthy, productive and progressive future. She called for sustained and coordinated efforts by government departments, educational institutions, parents, communities and civil society to prevent substance abuse, strengthen awareness and safeguard the future of young people.

The Deputy Commissioner underscored that the collective focus must remain on youth empowerment, quality education, skill development, employment opportunities, healthy lifestyles and constructive engagement, so that the energy, talent and potential of the younger generation can be channelled towards nation-building.

Outstanding contingents and participants were also felicitated for their exemplary performance and participation, recognising their discipline, dedication and contribution to the successful conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.

The celebrations reflected the collective spirit of District Samba, with citizens, students and the administration coming together under the Tricolour to reaffirm their commitment to unity, integrity, peace, development and nation-building.

The programme concluded with the National Song followed by the National Anthem, marking the culmination of the Independence Day celebrations and a renewed resolve to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and contribute collectively towards building a stronger, progressive, inclusive and drug-free society.
