RAMBAN, JUNE 01: Central Reserve Police Force’s 84 Battalion celebrated its 41st Raising Day with great enthusiasm and pride at Tactical Headquarters Chanderkote, Ramban, today.

Raised on June 1, 1985, at Group Centre CRPF, New Delhi, the Battalion has rendered distinguished and selfless service to the Nation across various operational theatres, including Jammu & Kashmir, the North Eastern States and Punjab, where it played a significant role in counter-insurgency and anti-militancy operations.

Since 2010, the Battalion has been deployed in Jammu & Kashmir and is entrusted with the crucial responsibility of securing National Highway-44, the lifeline of the Kashmir Valley, over a stretch of nearly 47 kilometres in District Ramban.

The Raising Day celebrations commenced at the Sarv Dharm Prarthana Sthal, where officers and personnel prayed for peace, prosperity, and success in the year ahead. The Battalion also paid homage to its brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the Nation. A ceremonial flag hoisting was conducted at the Quarter Guard, followed by a Guard of Honour presented to Commandant 84 Bn CRPF, N Ranbir Singh.

Addressing the troops during a Sainik Sammelan, the Commandant extended greetings and best wishes to all ranks and their families. He highlighted the glorious history and achievements of the Force and the Battalion, and urged personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, dedication, discipline, and patriotism.

As part of the celebrations and in support of environmental conservation, Battalion personnel planted 100 saplings in and around the campus, reaffirming their commitment towards a greener and sustainable future.

A colourful mela was also organised during the day, featuring food stalls established by various Companies of the Battalion. The stalls showcased cuisines from different regions of the country, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity. Recreational and entertaining games added to the festive atmosphere and were enjoyed by personnel and their families.

In the run-up to the Raising Day, several competitions, including Physical Endurance Tests, Weapon Handling, Firing, Badminton, Volleyball, Pickleball and Tug of War, were organised with enthusiastic participation from Unit personnel.

On the occasion, personnel of 84 Bn. CRPF who displayed exceptional dedication and outstanding performance during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 and were awarded the Director General CRPF Commendation Disc and Certificates were also felicitated. The commendation discs were formally presented by Commandant N Ranbir Singh in recognition of their exemplary service and devotion to duty.

The celebrations concluded with a grand cultural evening where Battalion personnel showcased their talents through various performances. Trophies, medals, certificates and prizes were distributed among winners and runners-up of the competitions organised during the Raising Day celebrations. A Bada Khana was also arranged and attended by personnel along with their family members, adding warmth and camaraderie to the occasion.

The event reflected the Battalion’s rich legacy, operational excellence, esprit de corps, and unwavering commitment towards the service of the Nation.
