KUPWARA, JULY 21: In a significant step toward promoting transparency and accountability in government financial operations, Finance department Kupwara has initiated a Literacy camp on Public Financial Management System (PFMS) and related financial practices across the district at Auditorium Hall Employment office Kupwara.
The initiative is designed to enhance understanding of key financial mechanisms among Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and dealing Assistants from different departments. It also aimed to build capacity in areas such as digital payments, real-time fund tracking, expenditure management, and procedural compliance under PFMS, DLI, SLI and other schemes.
Addressing one of the sessions, Chief Accounts Officer Kupwara, (DFO) Kupwara, underscored the importance of financial literacy in strengthening governance and ensuring efficient utilization of public funds. He emphasized the critical role of PFMS in streamlining workflows, improving financial reporting, and supporting the effective implementation of development schemes.
During the sessions, a resource person from the Finance department, delivered comprehensive presentations on various PFMS modules, including timely fund utilization, reconciliation procedures, and adherence to financial guidelines. The workshops also featured interactive Q&A segments to resolve practical challenges faced by participants in day-to-day operations.
This concerted effort by the Finance department Kupwara reflects its commitment to promoting fiscal discipline, empowering officials with critical financial knowledge, and ensuring robust implementation of welfare and development initiatives.
