KULGAM, AUGUST 07: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan visited the Mountain Research Centre for Field Crops (MRCFC) Khudwani, SKUAST-K today, to review ongoing research and technological advancements.
During the visit, DC was briefed on the Seed Production Programme and key research trials under the All India Coordinated Research Improvement Programme (AICRIP), focusing on crop improvement, agronomy, plant protection, and soil health.
Emphasis was laid on resource conservation technologies like Direct Seeded Rice (DSR), nano fertilizers, and residue management. He was also apprised of germplasm conservation efforts involving traditional rice varieties like Mushkbudji, Red Rice, and Shalimar Sugandh-1.
DC toured modern laboratories, interacted with researchers, and lauded the centre’s contributions to sustainable agriculture. He assured full administrative support to strengthen agricultural research and innovation in the region.
Accompanying the DC were ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; ACR, Riyaz Ahmad Shah; Associate Director Research MRCFC Khudwani, Dr. Najeeb ul Rehman; scientists and researchers besides other officers.
