SHOPIAN, JULY 22: In order to check overpricing, quality of essential commodities, Market checking drives were today conducted in Keller and Barbugh areas of district Shopian.
The drives were carried out by teams comprising officials from the Revenue department, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During these inspections, fines were imposed and realised from erring shopkeepers for various violations.
The teams also verified the installation of CCTV cameras in shops. It was observed that around 60% of shopkeepers had installed CCTV cameras, while the remaining were instructed to comply with the directions of the District Magistrate Shopian and ensure installation within five days.
The hygiene condition of the market at Barbugh was thoroughly inspected, and shopkeepers were advised to maintain proper cleanliness standards. CCTV installations were also checked on the spot.
