Bandipora Intensifies fight against drugs with launch of ‘Anti-Drug Youth Clubs’
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram

BANDIPORA, JULY 22: In a significant step towards curbing the growing menace of drug abuse among youth, District Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre (DDAC), Bandipora, in collaboration with the Social Welfare department, Bandipora organized an impactful outreach programme at Government High School Kehnusa, Bandipora.

The awareness programme witnessed active participation from students, teachers, non-teaching staff, and concerned parents. The event aimed to sensitize the community, particularly the younger generation, about the perils of substance abuse and the importance of timely intervention, counselling, and rehabilitation.

Speakers at the event highlighted various dimensions of drug addiction, from early signs and psychological impacts to available support systems under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR). They also emphasized the crucial role of schools and families in early detection and prevention.

A key highlight of the event was the formation of Student and Youth Clubs against Drug Abuse under the NAPDDR framework. These clubs are envisioned to serve as proactive peer-led forums that will not only spread awareness but also lead community-level actions and campaigns against drug abuse.

Locals appreciated the initiative, describing it as a much-needed intervention in the wake of increasing substance abuse cases in the district.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students and parents expressed their concerns, shared experiences, and pledged to work collectively to build a drug-free society.
