DODA, AUGUST 4: In a forward-looking move to promote conservation and economic development through medicinal plant cultivation, the Jammu & Kashmir Medicinal Plants Board in collaboration with the District Administration Doda organized a one-day seminar at Town Hall Doda.
The seminar was themed “Promoting Conservation, Cultivation of Medicinal Plants and Developing Entrepreneurship in the Medicinal Plants Sector”.
Organized under the supervision of the District AYUSH Officer, Doda, the program saw active participation from agricultural experts, local entrepreneurs, progressive farmers, officials and youth from across the district.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the rich medicinal plant biodiversity in the region and explore its potential as a sustainable livelihood avenue. Experts emphasized that Doda’s unique agro-climatic conditions make it highly conducive for cultivating a wide range of medicinal and aromatic plants.
Chief Guest, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Doda, Roshan Lal praised the initiative and underscored the importance of such awareness programs in educating the local population about the untapped potential of the region. He directed officials to ensure similar outreach activities across rural areas to maximize community participation.
The seminar featured technical sessions, expert talks, and interactive discussions, offering insights into scientific cultivation methods, value addition, post-harvest processing, marketing opportunities, and government schemes available in the AYUSH and medicinal plants sector.
