REASI, AUGUST 07: Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi, Sukhdev Singh Samyal, today flagged off a group of 50 farmers for a training-cum-exposure visit under the Modified High-Density Plantation and Rejuvenation of Old Orchards Scheme, part of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
The farmers will receive practical training and awareness at SKUAST, R.S. Pura, Jammu on the latest horticultural technologies.
The ADDC highlighted Reasi district’s vast potential in horticulture, given its varied agro-climatic zones. Temperate areas cultivate walnuts, apples, pears and apricots; sub-temperate areas support pecan nuts, plums and peaches; while sub-tropical regions are ideal for mangoes, citrus fruits, guavas, amlas, litchis and papayas.
The exposure visit is part of the Capacity Building component of HADP for the year 2025–26, aiming to equip farmers with modern horticultural techniques to improve productivity.
Chief Horticulture Officer Rajinder Magotra, DIO Reasi and other officials were present.
