SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 13: To mark the 150th anniversary of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram, District Administration Shopian today organized patriotic events including a Rally and a Tug of War competition.
The Rally was flagged off by DYSSO, Shopian, Sunil Kumar from Padapwan Shopian, witnessing an impressive turnout of youth, officials and citizens.
Participants carried the message of national unity and peace through vibrant slogans and banners depicting the significance of ‘Vande Mataram’ in India’s freedom struggle.
The District Administration appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports Department for engaging the youth in constructive and nation-building activities. They emphasized that such programmes inspire patriotism among the younger generation and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and harmony.
As part of the celebration, a Tug of War competition was also held at the Circuit House Helipad, featuring teams from Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers (REKs) and NYCs which added a fun-filled sporting dimension to the event.
The contest witnessed great enthusiasm, sportsmanship and camaraderie among participants.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) expressed gratitude to all departments, participants and volunteers for participation.
