UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 25: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Udhampur on Friday conducted a special enforcement drive with a special focus on checking the safety and regulatory compliance of school buses operating in the district.
The enforcement team, led by ARTO Mudassir Iqbal, checked 60 school Buses and assessed compliance with prescribed safety norms, seating capacity and other requirements under the Motor Vehicles rules.
As many as 10 school buses of Delhi Public School were found to have seats beyond the permitted capacity.
Accordingly, challans were issued against the vehicles for violation of the prescribed norms.
The ARTO stated that such enforcement drives would continue to ensure strict compliance with motor vehicle regulations and the safety and well-being of school-going children.
The transport authorities have advised all school managements and school bus operators to strictly adhere to the prescribed safety standards and seating capacity norms and to ensure that their vehicles remain compliant with all statutory requirements.
