JAMMU, NOVEMBER 14: As part of the nationwide campaign “Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar” aimed at facilitating the settlement of unclaimed deposits across the country, a district-level outreach camp was today organised by State Bank of India, Administrative Office Jammu, under Phase IV of the campaign.

The initiative, launched by the Union Finance Minister on October 4 2025, is being conducted from October to December 2025 and covers unclaimed funds regulated by RBI, MCA, SEBI, IRDAI and PFRDA.

The programme was chaired by Regional Director RBI, Chandra Shekhar Azad as the Chief Guest. Senior officers including Deputy General Manager RBI, Vibha Gupta; General Manager J&K Bank, Ashok Gupta; Regional Manager (Jammu) SBI, Ajay Singh Kamdi; Accounts Officer DC Office Jammu, Krishan Singh and AGM-SBI, Chander Mohan Bhat were among the attendees. Representatives from LIC, PNB MetLife and the banks including J&K Bank, SBI, PNB, JKGB, CBI and Indian Bank also participated.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted the 3A strategy—Awareness, Accessibility and Action—forming the core of the campaign, aimed at enabling citizens to reclaim their rightful savings. He informed that the UT of J&K has 17,20,878 unclaimed accounts with an outstanding balance of ₹465.79 crore, of which Jammu district accounts for 2,94,676 unclaimed accounts amounting to ₹107.27 crore. He urged banks to proactively identify and reach out to depositors and rightful claimants to ensure timely settlement of these accounts. He also apprised the participants about the RBI’s incentive-based “Scheme for Facilitating Accelerated Payout–Inoperative

Accounts and Unclaimed Deposits”, operational from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, under which banks will receive differential payouts of up to 7.5 percent of balances or ₹25,000, whichever is lower, for settlement of such accounts.

During the camp, the participants were briefed about the process for claiming unclaimed deposits and the documents required for settlement. A live demonstration of UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits–Gateway to Access Information) portal was provided to facilitate understanding of the procedure to search deposits transferred to the DEA Fund and to access claim settlement channels of respective banks. Dedicated facilitation counters were set up by participating banks to support citizens in submitting claims, completing re-KYC, opening new bank accounts including PMJDY accounts, enrolling under Jan Suraksha schemes (PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY) and availing nomination and grievance redressal facilities.

As part of the camp, cheques amounting to ₹1,01,81,000 were handed over to 75 beneficiaries and legal heirs upon completion of required formalities.
