KATHUA, DECEMBER 04: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rajesh Sharma today convened a Public Grievances Redressal Camp at the SDM Office, Bani to listen to the public demands and ensure on-spot redressal of issues.

A large number of people from Bani and adjoining areas attended the camp and projected their demands before the District and sub-divisional level officers led by the DC.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the people and directed the concerned departments to take immediate steps for time-bound disposal of all genuine demands.

He informed that matters including enhancement of wages by NHPC, disposal of minor minerals, posting of adequate teaching and medical staff, up-dation of ration cards and the establishment of Bani Municipality have already been taken up with the concerned authorities.

The DC appealed to the youth to channelise their energies towards constructive activities such as sports and to stay away from drugs. He urged people to avail the benefits of government schemes to achieve economic growth and prosperity.

The District Administration, under the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner, facilitated the participation of major industry player, M/s Kandhari Beverages in the public meeting. The aim was to tap the skilled and unskilled workforce potential of the region and create meaningful employment avenues for local youth. The participating company conducted a recruitment drive and shortlisted 8 skilled and 16 unskilled candidates for jobs in the industrial sector.

Referring to Mission Yuva, he said the initiative offers youth a platform to start new ventures with easy credit and contribute to local employment generation.

Later, the DC reviewed winter preparedness of local administration and ongoing developmental works. He asked authorities to maintain buffer stocks of essential items and keep available adequate men and machinery for snow clearance on roads during peak winter.

He informed that compensation for recent losses caused by rains and floods in Bani Sub Division has been disbursed as per SDRF norms. He also assured that the Winter Festival at Sarthal will be organised depending on weather conditions and logistical feasibility.

Earlier, the people raised several demands seeking augmentation of drinking water supply, adequate power supply, repair of damaged school buildings, sanctioning of Kendriya Vidyalaya for Bani, regular ration supply, repair of street lights, repair of roads, release of pending land compensation under PMGSY, completion of ST Hostel Sarthal, release of pending payments under JJM, development of CHC Bani, resolving low voltage issue and clearance of liabilities of Panchayat Ghar Kanthal.
