Young cricket talent on display as YSS U-17 Cup open trials held in Poonch

POONCH, DECEMBER 17: The District Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) Department on Tuesday successfully conducted the YSS Cup Open Cricket Trials for Under-17 Boys here at the Sports Stadium Poonch. The event witnessed an impressive display of young cricketing talent from across the district.

The trials were organised under the overall guidance and visionary leadership of Director General Youth Services & Sports, J&K Anuradha Gupta with active support from Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu Venakshi Koul and Deputy Director (Activities) Megha Baogia.

At the district level, the event was supervised by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Poonch Qasim.
As many as 170 Under-17 boys from different parts of the District participated in the trials with great enthusiasm, highlighting the growing interest and passion for cricket among the youth. The selection process was carried out in a fair, transparent and systematic manner by the duly constituted selection committee, which assessed players on the basis of technical skills, physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and overall performance.

The trials aimed at identifying promising cricketing talent at the grassroots level and providing young players a platform to progress towards higher levels of competition. The initiative reflects the department’s continued efforts to promote sports culture, healthy competition, physical fitness among the youth and ensuring equal opportunities for aspiring athletes to showcase their potential.
