NOWSHERA, FEBRUARY 06: On the directions of DC Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, a meeting was chaired by ADC Nowshera Pritam Lal Thapa to review the status of assessment and compensation of collateral damages caused due to the construction of Jammu–Poonch National Highway (NH-144A) in the Nowshera section, besides taking stock of various issues related to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects.

The meeting was attended by officers from 57 RCC (BRO), Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Rajouri, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Nowshera, Tehsildar Nowshera and other concerned officers.

The BRO officers informed that the assessment of damaged structures has been completed by the Public Works (R&B) Department and the assessed compensation amount has been projected to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for sanction.

It was apprised that the compensation will be disbursed to the affected people as soon as the sanction is accorded.

The ADC was further informed that in certain stretches of the highway, landslides have occurred, posing a threat to nearby residential houses. In this regard, the executing contractor has been directed to construct proper protection and retaining walls to prevent any further damage and ensure the safety of the residents.
Various other issues pertaining to the construction of NH-144A and other BRO roads in the sub-division were also discussed in detail.

The ADC directed the BRO authorities to expedite the pace of work and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

Dr. Thapa also urged the BRO officers to speed up the construction work on the Beri–Pattan Jallas Road to provide better connectivity and convenience to the people of the area.
