UDHAMPUR, MARCH 28: District Legal Service Authority Udhampur on Saturday organised a visit to District Jail to assess the working of Prison Legal Aid Clinic and civic amenities available for the jail inmates.
The team comprised Kalpana Revo (Principal District & Session Judge/Chairperson DLSA), Sumati Sharma (Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA), Pawan Gupta (Chief LADC) and other officials.
The Chairperson and Secretary visited the Prison Legal Aid Clinic, where they checked the records and assessed the working of PLVs of DLSA Udhampur deputed there. The team also scrutinized hygiene standards and the sanitation facilities, kitchen, medical room and barracks inside the District Jail. They interacted with inmates, inquiring about their concerns, while providing guidance on the legal aid process and its benefits. The inmates were apprised of their rights and the avenues available for seeking legal redressal.
The visiting team also addressed grievances and gave suggestions for improvement, emphasising the importance of maintaining a humane atmosphere within the facility.
