KUPWARA, MAY 2: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a review meeting of concerned officers to assess the preparedness for the conduct of Census 2027 across the district.

During the meeting, the DDC took a detailed appraisal of the progress achieved under various preparatory components essential for the smooth and accurate execution of the census exercise. Special focus was laid on the status of House Listing Blocks (HLB) operations, which form the foundational stage of the census process. Officers apprised the chair that groundwork for HLB listing is underway, with emphasis on ensuring complete coverage and accuracy of data.

The meeting also reviewed the demarcation of enumeration blocks, a critical step to facilitate systematic data collection. The DDC stressed the importance of precise demarcation to avoid overlaps or omissions, directing officers to strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and timelines.

Further, discussions were held regarding the deployment of enumerators and supervisors.

Highlighting the significance of Census 2027 as a vital national exercise, the DDC called for coordinated efforts among all departments. He urged officers to maintain close monitoring, ensure timely completion of tasks, and address any bottlenecks proactively.
