ANANTNAG, MAY 11: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a significant literary and cultural programme at Village Zaldura, Doru, Anantnag, with the primary objective of connecting the younger generation with their rich heritage, language, and cultural traditions.

The programme was aimed at encouraging young students and local youth to remain connected with their roots and to develop a deeper understanding of their cultural identity.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, young writers, and members of the local community. During the programme, students and young participants presented poetry recitations and literary pieces, showcasing their talent and interest in Punjabi language and literature. Their performances were highly appreciated by the audience and reflected the growing enthusiasm among the younger generation towards preserving their mother tongue and cultural legacy.

Speaking on the occasion, Popinder Singh Paras, Chief Editor, Punjabi Sheeraza, emphasized the importance of preserving language and culture in today’s rapidly changing world. He stated that the Academy remains committed to promoting Punjabi language, literature, and cultural values among the youth through meaningful programmes at the grassroots level. He added that such literary and cultural initiatives not only strengthen the bond of young people with their heritage but also help in nurturing a sense of pride and belonging towards their traditions.

He further said that in the present era of globalization and technological advancement, it has become even more important to preserve our linguistic and cultural identity. “Our heritage is our strength, and it is our collective responsibility to pass it on to future generations,” he remarked.

He also highlighted that JKAACL has been continuously organizing programmes across Jammu and Kashmir to encourage youth participation and to provide a platform for emerging writers, poets, and artists.

The programme also served as an interactive platform where elders and community members shared their experiences and insights regarding the importance of preserving traditional values, local literature, and indigenous cultural practices. Their words inspired the younger participants and reinforced the significance of maintaining a strong connection with their roots.

Prominent local personalities, social workers, and community leaders were present on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the Academy and expressed hope that more such programmes would be organized in rural areas to benefit the younger generation and strengthen cultural awareness at the grassroots level.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to continue promoting literature, language, and cultural awareness among the youth, reaffirming the Academy’s dedication towards preserving and celebrating the rich cultural diversity and literary traditions of Jammu and Kashmir.
