KULGAM, MAY 11: A review meeting regarding the implementation of the Classes of Joy program was held today at Mini Secretariat Kulgam under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, ShahzadAlam.

The meeting was attended by Officers of education department, District Coordinators, concerned Resource Persons, and members of the Pratham team.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the performance and progress of the previous year’s program in light of the recently conducted baseline assessment of students from grades 3rd to 5th. Detailed discussions were held on the current learning levels of children and the need for focused interventions to address learning gaps among students.

Emphasizing the importance of improving foundational learning, the Deputy Commissioner directed all stakeholders to adopt suitable solutions through Pratham’s Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach to effectively cater to the learning loss among children. It was stressed that the program must be implemented in its true letter and spirit to ensure meaningful learning outcomes.

The meeting also highlighted the need for assigning dedicated teachers for both English and Mathematics in schools, who will be solely responsible for the implementation and smooth execution of the TaRL approach.

Directions were issued to ensure proper academic support, regular practice, and continuous assessment of students to strengthen foundational competencies.

Issues related to the availability of teaching-learning material, effective monitoring of schools, and timely supervision were also discussed in detail.

The DC instructed the concerned officials to ensure regular monitoring and coordinated efforts at all levels so that the desired learning outcomes are achieved.

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on collective responsibility and committed efforts from all stakeholders to ensure improved performance and best possible results in the endline assessment scheduled for September and October.
