KATHUA, MAY 13: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing improvement, beautification and sanitation works in Lakhanpur and various points along the National Highway being undertaken in view of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected key locations and assessed the status of road maintenance, cleanliness, repair of dividers and other civic amenities being put in place for the convenience of pilgrims and commuters.
He stressed the importance of maintaining Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, in a clean, organized and aesthetically appealing manner, especially during the Yatra period when a large number of pilgrims and visitors pass through the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the NHAI authorities to ensure timely completion of all works with special focus on sanitation, traffic regulation, road safety and public convenience. He emphasized that coordinated efforts among all departments are essential to provide a smooth, safe and comfortable passage for the Yatris.
He also instructed the officials to maintain regular monitoring of the arrangements and ensure that all basic facilities including public conveniences, proper lighting and waste management systems remain functional and well-maintained.
CPO Kathua Ranjeet Thakur, besides representatives of the National Highway Authority and other concerned officers, accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection.
