SHOPIAN, MAY 15: District Administration Shopian, under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA), continues to organize a series of intensive awareness and outreach programmes across the district on a daily basis to educate people, especially youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
As part of the sustained campaign, awareness programmes, sports activities, seminars, yoga sessions, cultural events and interactive meetings are being conducted in schools, colleges, villages and public places with active participation of students, youth clubs, teachers, civil society members and local volunteers.
During the programmes, participants were sensitized about the growing menace of substance abuse and were encouraged to play an active role in making society drug-free.
Speakers stressed the importance of community participation, parental guidance and coordinated efforts to protect the younger generation from falling prey to drugs.
Special focus is being laid on involving youth in constructive and positive activities including sports, skill development and awareness drives so that they remain engaged in productive pursuits. Various departments are jointly conducting these activities to strengthen the anti-drug movement at the grassroots level.
Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities to the concerned authorities for timely action.
The daily awareness initiatives are receiving encouraging response from the public and are significantly contributing towards building a healthier, safer and drug-free Shopian.
