GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 02: District Ganderbal today observed Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm, paying rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and recalling his immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle, his sacrifices and his enduring message of truth, non violence and service to humanity.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his remarkable contribution to the freedom struggle and nation building. He highlighted the enduring relevance of Gandhian philosophy and values in contemporary society and called upon all to draw inspiration from his life and ideals.
The programme also marked the commencement of “Reform Utsav” and showcased various citizen centric schemes, programmes, services and reforms being implemented by different departments.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and remembered his sacrifices, contribution and unwavering commitment to truth, non-violence, peace and the welfare of society. He highlighted the important role played by Mahatma Gandhi in India’s freedom movement and emphasised that his philosophy continues to inspire generations and remains relevant in building a peaceful, inclusive and responsible society.
Students presented cultural programmes, speeches and other presentations highlighting the life, ideals and contribution of Mahatma Gandhi. Through their presentations, the students highlighted his role in India’s freedom struggle and conveyed messages based on truth, non-violence, simplicity, unity and service to society.
The cultural presentations also highlighted the relevance of Gandhian values in contemporary times, with students emphasising the importance of peaceful coexistence, social harmony, cleanliness, responsibility towards society and respect for all sections of the community.
Various departments and line departments established stalls showcasing their major schemes, programmes, public services, achievements and citizen centric initiatives, providing an opportunity for the general public to obtain information regarding government schemes and services.
The programme witnessed participation of officers and officials from various departments, students, faculty members and members of the general public, besides other stakeholders.
