RAMBAN, MAY 16: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), in collaboration with the J&K Police, conducted a comprehensive enforcement drive at various locations of Ramban district to enforce strict compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.
During the drive, more than 175 vehicles were thoroughly inspected. Of these 37 vehicles were e-challaned for violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, with an expected penalty amount of Rs 1,52,500.
Meanwhile, 9 vehicles were seized, while 09 driving licences were recommended for suspension for serious violations.
The major offences detected during the drive included overloading, driving without a valid driving licence, non-payment of token tax, expired insurance and expired Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC).
The ARTO sensitized drivers and motorists to the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations. He issued a stern warning against overloading and other violations, emphasizing that continued non-compliance would invite strict penal action, including seizure of vehicles, suspension or cancellation of driving licences, registration certificates, and route permits.
