REASI, JUNE 25: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a meeting of the District Task Force for National Immunization Day (NID) 2026 to review and finalize arrangements for the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.
Booth-based vaccination will begin on June 28, 2026, followed by a door-to-door campaign from June 29 to 30, 2026, covering all children aged below five years. A total of 59,462 children across the district will be covered through 384 booths, 20 transit teams and 12 mobile teams. For the campaign, 75,517 OPV doses have been arranged along with sufficient buffer stock, and 20 cold chain points established across the district for safe storage and transportation of vaccines.
The campaign covers all four health blocks; Reasi, Katra, Pouni and Mahore, with special emphasis on 17 identified high-risk areas including slums, nomadic settlements, brick kilns, construction sites and migratory population clusters.
The DC directed all departments concerned to ensure complete coverage of all Anganwadi centres and schools, and that Anganwadi and ASHA workers actively create awareness about polio immunisation. He urged religious leaders to encourage maximum participation and appealed to parents and guardians to ensure every child below five years receives polio drops regardless of prior vaccination.
Among those present were PO POSHAN Navdeep Wazi, Deputy CMO, DIO, DySP HQ, XEN PDD, BMOs and other senior officers.
