JAMMU, JULY 1: The Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu today flagged off a Capacity Building Training Tour on Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (MAP) for progressive farmers of Sub-Division Dansal under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) 2026-27 and the guidance of Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta and Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu Manohar Lal Sharma.
Fifty farmers drawn from the agricultural zones of Sidhra, Nagrota and KP Manwal were flagged off for an educational exposure visit to CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, scheduled from 1 to 3 July 2026. The training tour was formally flagged off by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Dansal Ashwani Gupta, in the presence of SMS (SDL) Pankaj Bhawani, JAEO (HQ) Parveen Singh, I/C AEO Sidhra Riffat Firdous and AEA Vikram Singh.
Addressing the participants, SDAO Ashwani Gupta highlighted the potential of medicinal and aromatic crops in increasing farm income through diversification and scientific cultivation practices, and encouraged farmers to engage with experts at CSKHPKV Palampur to gain practical insights into advanced agricultural technologies.
The exposure programme aims to equip farmers with knowledge of cultivation practices, processing techniques, value addition and market opportunities in the medicinal and aromatic plants sector, and is expected to open new livelihood avenues and contribute to sustainable agricultural growth in the region.
