DC Bandipora reviews arrangements for Independence Day 2026 celebrations

BANDIPORA, JULY 18: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the smooth and successful celebration of Independence Day 2026 across the district.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparedness for the main function at Bandipora as well as the arrangements being made at the sub-divisional, tehsil and block levels.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the preparations relating to security, traffic regulation, venue management, seating arrangements, power supply, drinking water, sanitation, healthcare services, fire and emergency response, transport, parking facilities, cultural programmes and overall public convenience.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete their assigned responsibilities well in advance and ensure seamless coordination for the successful conduct of the national event. She stressed that every department must work in close coordination to ensure that all arrangements are put in place without any lapse.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the Police and other security agencies to make foolproof security arrangements and prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and the public.

She also directed the Health Department to deploy medical teams equipped with ambulances and emergency medicines at the venue.

The Executive Engineers of PDD and PHE were directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adequate drinking water facilities at all venues, while the Municipal Council and other concerned departments were directed to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness. The Fire and Emergency Services Department was asked to remain on alert with adequate firefighting arrangements.

The Chief Education Officer was directed to coordinate cultural and patriotic programmes. The Youth Services and Sports Department was also asked to make necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed all Heads of Departments and field officers to ensure proper flag-hoisting arrangements at their respective offices and illuminate government buildings in accordance with the prescribed protocol to create a festive and patriotic atmosphere across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed all concerned departments to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Flag Code of India during flag-hoisting ceremonies. She deliberated on various provisions of the Flag Code and instructed officers to ensure that the national flag is hoisted and handled strictly in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. She further directed all field offices to share their flag-hoisting location plans well in advance with the District Administration to facilitate hassle-free arrangements and ensure effective coordination across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also Initaited the Prelude for Activities to be organised in the run-up to Independence Day celebrations. She directed BDOs to identify Swach Walls for theme based wall paintings to raise awareness regarding waste managment in line with independence Day Celebrations.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked BDOs to take up roof top rain water harvesting in every block of the District. She emphasised that these activities should promote community awareness while encouraging active public participation ahead of the national celebrations.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Bandipora, Nazir Ahmad Mir; ADC Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; ACR Bandipora; ACP Bandipora; officers from the Police, Army, CRPF and BSF; SDMs (virtually); Chief Planning Officer; Chief Education Officer; Chief Medical Officer; Executive Engineers of various departments; ARTO; District Youth Services and Sports Officer; Block Development Officers; Tehsildars; and other concerned officers.
