Don’t Blame “Idealism” – Mr Shah_Faesal

Once the first topper of the Civil Services in J&K, Shah Faesal, is again in the news these days after the Government reinstated him following his resignation—which now stands withdrawn—back in January 2019 from services and floated Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) party which soon turned out to be short-lived and an entity without vision.

The party is these days just on paper as most of the members have either left the party for their good or have joined some other political parties while the reinstatement of Faesal turns out to be the last nail in the coffin.

The hints of something happening on the reinstatement front were thrown by Faesal himself in which he said that while chasing a chimaera, he lost his job, friends, reputation and public goodwill.

To note here, soon after August 5, he was slapped with PSA after he appeared on BCC and, in a way, gave his feelings a vent, stating he won’t become a stooge after what the Government did—referring to the abrogation of the Article 370 and stripping J&K of its statehood.

The subsequent days in detention appear to have resulted in a great change of heart because after he was released, there was a long lull following which he left his newly created party, and even changed his Twitter bio, hinting something was brewing.

His resignation was not until recently accepted by the Government as he was made to submit an application for the withdrawal of the same, which he did and the same has been cleared by the Government, paving a way for Faesal’s reinstatement in the administration. However, what sort of posting he gets will become clear in days to come.

To this point, he appears to be stating that taking a different line back then was a mistake on his part; forming a political party to fight for the honour and respect of the people of J&K, especially the youth, which, as it appears, did not have a vision, and a strong grounding, was also a grand mistake, he admitted.

Even though, he promised back then that he will fight the forces who intend to divide J&K based on religion and will represent Kashmir’s youth with a key focus on the eradication of corruption. But turned out to be a grand hoax.

However, these ideals now appear to be a part of something grim, belonging to the past, executed without giving the circumstances due consideration. But that is not it. There is more.

Youth who had reposed faith in him, feel betrayed, for which sorry sans effect. The youth of J&K, particularly in Kashmir, have been suffering ever since, and in Faesal, after becoming an icon for the youngsters, they saw hope for betterment.

They even donated for the sustenance of the party out of their tight pockets, but then, someone feels that his idealism had let him down and that he would work for undoing whatever mistakes he committed—strange. In the end, it is the youth who are shown dreams, and promised stars, and then they are left to fend for themselves—ironic.
