ANANTNAG, AUGUST 20: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Vikas Ahlawat, today inspected the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Treatment Plant of the Municipal Council Anantnag at Uranhall to assess its functioning and review arrangements for the scientific management and disposal of municipal solid waste.
During the inspection, the ADC reviewed the existing facilities and directed the concerned authorities to further strengthen the waste management system. He emphasised the need for proper and scientific disposal of municipal waste in accordance with prescribed norms and stressed that all necessary measures be taken to maintain cleanliness and ensure safe handling of waste.
Ahlawat directed the concerned authorities to undertake immediate macadamization of the approach road leading to the SWM Treatment Plant. He said improved road connectivity would facilitate the smooth and uninterrupted movement of waste-carrying vehicles and enhance accessibility to the facility.
The ADC also directed the officers to explore the provision of essential utility connections and other basic infrastructure at the plant to support its efficient functioning and ensure uninterrupted operations. The Municipal Council authorities were asked to take timely action on all identified requirements.
The inspection underscored the administration’s commitment to strengthening scientific solid waste management, improving civic infrastructure and creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the people of Anantnag.
