KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 22: Inter-District Division Level U/19 Girls Cricket Competition organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar, on Tuesday commenced here at the Historic Chowgan Ground with a grand opening ceremony.
Teams of talented young cricketers from seven districts of Jammu Division are participating in the tournament.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the competition in presence of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jaffer Haider Sheikh, Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs), coaches, selectors, officials and civil society members.
The event was organized under the overall directions of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta and under the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu, Inderjeet Singh Parihar.
In his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the commendable efforts put in by the Department of Youth Services & Sports for organizing the competition. He encouraged all participants to demonstrate dedication, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship while pursuing excellence in their sports career.
Earlier, the DYSSO extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, all dignitaries, officials, coaches, selectors and participating players.
He highlighted the significance of providing young girls with opportunities to showcase their sports talent and develop confidence through competitive cricket.
The competition began with the opening match between Udhampur and Samba. After winning the toss, Samba elected to bat first, marking the commencement of an exciting cricketing event.
