BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 28: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) for the review and consideration of applications received under the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) Scheme.
At the outset, the District Nodal Officer and Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO), Budgam, briefed the chair about the applications/cases received under the scheme and placed the same before the committee for consideration and approval.
After detailed deliberations and examination of the cases, the District Level Committee approved all 11 cases placed before it for consideration.
The PM FME Scheme is aimed at providing financial, technical and institutional support to micro food processing enterprises and facilitating their formalisation and upgradation. The scheme provides a 50 percent credit-linked capital subsidy, subject to the prescribed scheme guidelines and limits, to eligible beneficiaries for setting up or upgrading food processing units.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for wider dissemination and effective publicity of the scheme across the district so that maximum eligible beneficiaries, particularly small entrepreneurs and prospective food processing unit holders, can avail the benefits available under the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to undertake coordinated awareness and outreach activities and ensure that eligible beneficiaries are sensitised about the objectives, eligibility criteria, financial assistance and other provisions of the scheme. He also emphasised the importance of facilitating prospective beneficiaries in completing the requisite formalities and submitting their applications within the prescribed framework.
The meeting also discussed the role of different line departments in promoting food processing activities and encouraging local entrepreneurship in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner called for close inter-departmental coordination to ensure effective implementation of the scheme and timely disposal of eligible cases.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Budgam; General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Budgam; Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries, representatives of the Fisheries Department, Budgam; and other concerned officers and officials.
