Bullying and hate are not only real-life facts, but the same is true for cyberspace as well. Rather if we have to describe it more aptly, then, it must be said that, while there is a possibility of keeping a check on bullying, hate and several other actions, cyberspace provides a full and hurdle-free space to carry out such acts. While social media, to be precise, has a lot of content generated in minutes, the majority of it is usually based on hate and the propagation of ideas and beliefs which are in total contrast with the beliefs of several other communities.
While there is a power in cyberspace to spread the information swiftly, the same is misused by the elements in a negative way. There have been several instances in Kashmir where people have been scandalized for just being funny on social media platforms. Some people are producing a varied range of content on social media, however, they are usually subjected to bullying and a sustained hate campaign is launched against them.

Social media has another power of quick replication which has in it a capacity of turning a common man into a hero and the same is also true conversely when the same social media can bring shame to a great social media personality. The cyberspace has it all and that is where the restrictions, regulations, rules and norms come to place which should be complied with and adhered to by the social media giants to ensure that the cyberspace does not end up becoming all about negative energy, something which can be understood by the fact that several studies have found that those who use social media in excess have intrinsic negative energy in them, often pushing them to chronic depression.

There also have been instances where the hate generated online manifested offline with people from one group, community attacking those in opposite in the name of religion, faith and rituals. If so much hate that we see around, was not there just 5-7 years now, what exactly happened, what really transformed that we are seeing people brimming with hate, end up bullying, dominating and intimidating others?

The answer is the excess individual presence in the online sphere and the daily exposure to the various hate, propaganda campaigns of different natures. That is where the role of the system comes in. Its jurisdiction with the emergence and expansion of the online sphere has also increased and expanded, however, that is not being admitted while the same is hurting the very ideals and principles of the society. There is a need for accepting this expansion in the jurisdiction. There is a need for monitoring these spaces and ensuring matters as per law.
