DODA, OCTOBER 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda Krishan Lal today reviewed the road safety scenario in the district and the measures in place for preventing road accidents, rectifying vulnerable hotspots and ensuring safer traffic movement. He was chairing the 5th meeting of the District Road Safety Committee here in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex.

The DC directed NHIDCL, PMGSY, BRO and PWD to submit detailed reports of every road accident to the Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B), – the Secretary of the District Road Safety Committee, along with timely Action Taken Reports (ATRs). He stressed that accident-related reports must be submitted promptly to facilitate proper assessment, accountability and effective follow-up action.

The DC directed all concerned road-owning agencies to install and maintain crash barriers, rumble strips, cautionary signages and other essential safety measures at vulnerable locations. He further instructed PMGSY, PWD, NHIDCL and BRO to conduct road safety audits of all roads under their respective jurisdictions, identify additional accident-prone stretches and submit comprehensive mitigation plans for their rectification.

Emphasising the need for regular monitoring and preventive action, the DC directed the concerned departments to ensure the removal of roadside encroachments and the clearance of construction material, debris and other obstructions from public roads. He particularly stressed the need to keep single-lane roads free from roadside dumping and obstructions to ensure smooth traffic movement and minimise the risk of accidents.

The DC also stressed the importance of close coordination between the Traffic Department and the concerned control rooms for effective monitoring, timely communication and prompt response to road safety issues. He directed the concerned agencies to regularly inspect crash barriers and other safety installations at accident hotspots and ensure their proper maintenance.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Doda Manesh Kumar, Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Circle Doda-Kishtwar Atul Gupta, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Doda Kuldeep Kumar, DySP Traffic Doda Shokat Ali, Executive Officer Municipal Council Doda and EO MC Bhaderwah Ravi Saini, Executive Engineer R&B Doda, officials of Health Department and other concerned officers and officials.
