Injured Baramulla lady allegedly beaten by husband, succumbs at SKIMS Soura

Police say accused already under custody, further investigation underway

Baramulla: A 29-year-old woman, who was injured after allegedly being beaten by her husband in Kokathal locality of Kreeri in Baramulla district, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday evening at SKIMS Soura even as police have arrested the accused.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the victim had head trauma and she was in the ICU at SKIMS Soura, however, she breathed her last today evening.

Earlier, family members of the woman had alleged that their daughter was being mentally and physically harassed by her husband and in-laws for past many years.

They alleged that her husband beat her on Eid due which she received critical injuries and was subsequently taken to SKIMS Soura for treatment, where she was battling for life for past many days and today she breathed her last.

Meanwhile, a police official said that they have already arrested the accused person in the instant case and the matter was being further investigated .

He said that a case stands registered at police station Kreeri and the accused will be given strict punishment as per the merits of the case. (KNS)
