KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 19: The District Administration Kathua is going to host the District Marathon-2026 on October 4 under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, in collaboration with The Season Play (TSP), to promote a healthy and active lifestyle and spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review and finalize arrangements for the event.
The marathon would feature 3 Km, 5 Km and 10 Km race categories, with participation from youth, students, sports enthusiasts and the general public.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed various arrangements including route planning, traffic management, security, medical and first-aid facilities, sanitation, drinking water, registration, publicity and participant mobilization.
The concerned departments were directed to ensure close coordination and complete all arrangements well in advance for the smooth and successful conduct of the marathon.
The DC emphasized that the event should serve as a platform to strengthen the collective resolve against drug abuse, particularly among youth, while encouraging healthy lifestyles and positive engagement.
The district administration has invited citizens, youth, educational institutions, sports organizations and other stakeholders to participate enthusiastically in the marathon and contribute to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Among others, GM DIC, Mushtaq Chaudhary, ASP Sunil Kesar, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, representatives of colleges and officers/officials of concerned departments attended the meeting.
