Handwara: A 32-year-old woman was found dead allegedly under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ house in Kakroosa area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Reports said that the woman was found dead at her in-laws’ house this morning. Soon after news about the death of the woman (name withheld) broke, the victim’s family went to her in-laws’ house. Claiming to have found the woman dead under suspicious circumstances, the family alleged her murder. The family has been protesting since morning at Pachkote Tarathpora – native village of the victim, demanding a thorough investigation into the ‘sudden’ death of the woman.

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Handwara, Dr. Nissar Ahmad said that a post-mortem of the body has been conducted. He however declined to comment further on the issue.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Handwara, Sheema Nabi Qasba said that inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC has been initiated for due investigations into the incident. (GNS)
