Hubballi: An unidentified man jumped the security cordon and tried to garland Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his roadshow ahead of the inauguration of 26th National Youth Festival here on Thursday.
However, the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner said it was not security breach. On the contrary, sources said the SPG would conduct an enquiry.
Visuals of the roadshow saw a young man reaching close to PM Modi’s car and trying to garland him. At this point of time the door of PM Modi’s car was open and was greeting the people assembled at both sides of the road.
However, the SPG intervened and restrained the young man from reaching PM Modi and pushed him backwards. Thereafter, the traffic police caught hold of him and put him behind the security cordon.
PM Modi is in the city to participate in the 26th National Youth Festival.
After PM Modi landed at Hubbali airport, he started off his roadshow with a warm welcome from Karnataka Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Hordes of people, stranded along the route of PM Modi’s cavalcade, gave a warm welcome by showering flowers at him.
The event is being held on National Youth Day, which is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, to honour and cherish his ideals, teachings and contributions.
