Doda, October 09; In order to provide gainful employment to all the desirous unemployed youth of the district, the Central and UT government has launched various kinds of self-employment schemes.
Through these schemes, training, financial assistance, and handholding are provided through the intending departments to ensure the establishment of viable entrepreneurship units, to make the entrepreneurs self-reliant, and to create employment opportunities for others also.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Mahajan convened a meeting of all the stakeholder departments and reviewed their performance.
DC, while reviewing the saturation of the schemes, has asked the stakeholders to stress on creating Agro and Tourism Cooperatives across the district to boost the local economy while rejuvenating traditional customs and business practices.
He also impressed upon the Handloom and Handicrafts departments to revive the local Pattu (Hand made woollen cloth), and local crafts industry in the district to improve rural economic activities giving women folk a livelihood opportunity in their vicinity.
DC has directed the concerned to hold the review meeting on employment generation status on every Monday of each month.
In the meeting, it was informed that until September this year, 1631 cases have been sanctioned out of 2176 sponsored cases, and 941 cases have been disbursed, creating employment for 2492 youth, under PMEGP, JKREGP, MUMKIN, TEJASWINI, NMDFC, NM-EDU, direct finance scheme, ISDS, HADP, Aqua Culture Development Plan, and other like schemes.
Deputy Director Employment and LDM have been asked to coordinate and make sure that all the desirous applicants get their chosen financial assistance at the earliest.
He has instructed the stakeholder departments to run an extensive advertisement in the media about their schemes and invite applications from the eligible unemployed youth for greater awareness and saturation of the schemes.
