Sumbal, Dec 01: Employees of the PM Package residing in the migrant transit camp in the Odina area of Sumbal, located in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, expressed their concerns about the inadequate basic facilities in the camp, exacerbating their difficulties during the harsh winter

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), camp residents said that since its inauguration in April of this year, the camp has consistently lacked essential facilities. “Despite our regular complaints to the authorities, no positive steps have been taken to address these issues,” they said.

“In these frigid weather conditions, we lack proper heating arrangements, water supply, electricity, and even the washrooms lack geysers. Managing through winters under these circumstances is extremely challenging,” they said.

“When it rains, the ground becomes completely waterlogged, making it impossible for us to move from the gate to our quarters,” they added.

“During rains, water even seeps into the ground floor, further complicating our daily lives here. Although the issues were brought to the attention of the authorities, no action has been taken,” they further added.

Meanwhile, they appealed to Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad, to intervene in the matter so that they can get relief. An official, however said that he will look into matter—(KNO)
