Srinagar, Dec 16: In the bone-chilling cold, nearly 300 people turned up at Director General of Police’s (DGP) public grievances redressal camp here at Police headquarters, with hopes of getting their issues resolved.

Pertinently, DGP R R Swain commenced a weekly public grievance programme in Jammu and Kashmir a month ago, being held on Saturdays.

Ali Muhammad, one of the citizens, who turned up at Police Headquarters here, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), such programmes are a must to bring respite to the people and also bridge a gap between the administration and general public.

“It could have taken me months to get a meeting fixed with the DGP to seek redressal of my grievance, but this programme has brought a platform for the people to seek the intervention of top authorities to get their issues resolved within a shortest possible time,” he said.

Ali Muhammad had visited the public darbaar with the grievances of his ward, who has pursued the MBBS in Pakistan, saying that the fate of these educated MBBS students are hanging in balance and now they are seeking the help of administration to get their issues resolved.

Similarly, Bashir Ahmad, accompanying him echoed similar views stating that such events are the need of the hour as meeting of a common man with the top officials will not only help them to get their issues resolved but also bridge a gap between the people and the government.

“We are expecting this platform to continue to ease the sufferings of people,” he said. Majority of the visitors opined that DGP’s grievance redressal system unites broken hearts—(KNO)
