Srinagar, Dec 20: The Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that the Union Territory government has taken proactive steps to enhance the service conditions of its employees.

According to Shri Nityanand Rai, the service conditions of employees in the Union Territory are governed by the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Service Regulations.

Notably, the government has implemented the 7th Pay Commission Recommendations for regular government employees, ensuring competitive and fair remuneration.

Furthermore, he said that the Union Territory Government has extended various additional benefits to its employees. “These include Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance (CEA), hostel subsidy, incentive for acquiring fresh higher qualifications, special allowance for childcare for women with disabilities, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC). This comprehensive approach aims to support and uplift the well-being of the regular government employees in Jammu & Kashmir,” he added.

“All citizens of the Union Territory are covered under the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY-SEHAT scheme. This initiative provides health cover of Rs. 5.00 lakh per family free of cost.

Importantly, government employees can avail themselves of benefits under this scheme in addition to the existing provisions of medical attendance rules,” he added.

Recognizing the challenges faced by employees working in remote and inaccessible areas, he said that the Union Territory Government has implemented a Compensatory Allowance.

“This allowance mirrors the Special Compensatory (Remote Locality) Allowance of the Central Government and aims to address the unique circumstances of those serving in such regions,” he added—(KNO)
