JAMMU, FEBRUARY 27: Social Welfare Department on Tuesday arranged a special event under the mission of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” here at the Mission Shakti Office in Preet Nagar, aiming to support girls and promote equality.

Inspired by the slogan of the Government of India’s initiative, the event focused on “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child.” It emphasized the importance of investing in girls’ education to create a fair society.

Under the slogan of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the event aimed to stop bias against girls, addressing issues like female feticide, underage marriages and gender prejudices. The goal was to raise awareness and create an environment for the overall development of girls.

The event had Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, as the Chief Guest, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta and special guests Ishita Rathi (IAS) and District Social Welfare Officer Mamta Rajput.

Other attendees included Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator Mission Shakti and officials from DHEW and OSC Jammu.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya spoke about the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” campaign and also distributed essential items like nutritional kits, baby essentials, school bags, laptop bags and sewing machines among beneficiaries.

The program included informative sessions with Advocate Mamta discussing legal matters, Dr. Paras Khanna from Shankus Hospital sharing health insights and Khushboo Kapthe, a Gender Specialist from DHEW Jammu, presenting women-centric schemes.
