Srinagar, Feb 29 ): E-buses smart city and SRTC has significantly eased daily travel experience with many giving up their cars to travel in public transport.

The development has addressed long-standing problems of commuters who experienced difficulties particularly during peak morning and evening hours.

As per news agency—, people from far off areas or other districts who would visit Srinagar would be in a rush to catch vehicles or else they would have to stay away from home.   But with the introduction of J&K Road Transport Corporation’s electric buses and the integration of Smart City Buses, commuters say the situation has changed substantially.

On Srinagar to Chadoora route, , found commuters were all praise while exchanging positives of the bus service.

“The introduction of Smart City Buses and green buses has been a game-changer for us. Earlier, we would worry about finding transportation in the evenings but now these buses have brought smiles to our faces,” said Bashir Ahmad, who is a regular commuter on this route.

Similarly, one more commuter Nazir Ahmad said it is safe to travel late in the evening in the buses now.

”Commuters turn to this bus not only because of its punctuality but also because of its features including reduced fares, cleanliness, and heating arrangements. The government should add more buses to increase frequency,” Ahmad said.

A young college student Afshana Nabi looking satisfied with the service described the harrowing experience women had to face in crowded buses.  “We are pleased that the government has introduced buses with dedicated seating for women and that pick up and drop off passengers at each stop, preventing delays from reaching our destination,” she added—
