Awareness program under SVEEP concludes at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, MARCH 6: The 5-day Awareness Programme under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program on the themes, “MERA PEHLA VOTE, MERE DESH KE LIYE” and “CHUNAV KA PARV, DESH KA GARV.” Concluded today at Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur.  The campaign was organised under the guidance of the Principal of the College, Prof. Nalini Pathania.

 Around 150 students of the college participated and contributed to different activities and events organised in the college for five days.

Different activities were organised from 2-6 March, 2024 like Reel-Making competition, Pledge-Taking by students, Poster- Making Competition and Symposium.

The purpose of organising these activities was to make the students aware about the election-process and importance of casting vote in a democracy.

 The programme began with the welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, Nodal Officer of the SVEEP GCW Udhampur. She inspired the students, especially the new voters, to cast  their vote in the coming elections.

Prof. Nalini Pathania, Principal of the college, in her speech, congratulated the students for their active participation and appreciated the efforts of the SVEEP Nodal Officer and members for organising the wonderful awareness programme. She informed the students that these elections are a festival for the people living in a democratic country in which they get the chance to choose the government of their choice. So, we all must benefit out of this opportunity by participating in it through our right to franchise. In this way we can contribute towards the nation as well by making our democracy a success.

In the Reel- Making Competition on the theme, “Mera Pella Vote Desh Ke Liye”, Samridhi stood first, Gunn Manhas stood second and Sanjna Bandral stood third.

In the Symposium, on the same theme, Drishti Sharma secured first position, Diksha Sharma secured second position and Princy Devi fetched 3rd position.

In Poster-Making Competition, on the theme, “Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv” Sumiya Choudhary got first prize, Minu Devi got second prize and Nisha Devi secured third prize. Prices and certificates were distributed among the winners.

Prof. Pooja Bharti, HOD Geography, Dr. Shallu Jasrotia, Asstt. Prof. Music, Prof. Pardeep Singh, HOD Education were the judges in the Reel-Making Competition. Dr. Mool Raj, Asstt. HOD Urdu, Prof. Yash Paul, Asstt. Prof. History, Dr. Sushma Kumari, HOD Dogri were the jury members in Symposium and in Poster-Making Competition.

The Programme was organised by Prof. Swarna Devi (SVEEP Nodal Officer of the college) from Political Science Department and co-member of the SVEEP Cell, Dr. Om Parkash, Asstt. Prof. Sanskrit. Dr. Mool Raj, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Shama Rani, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Prof. Yash Paul also contributed by participating in the programme on different occasions.
