Eradicate drug menace for sustainable peace, development: Dr Varinder Sharma

JAMMU, Mar 11: Co-convenor Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Professional Cell, Dr Varinder Sharma today said days of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir are over and people here are writing a new chapter of peace, progress and development. Whatever residual militancy is visible will be completely wiped out in months to come as our security forces are on the job to flush frustrated elements out to pave a way for new J&K where socio-economic development will take the front seat.

Dr Varinder Sharma said people of Kashmir in videos, voice messages, on social media and in conversation with their friends and family are recognising the changed picture of Paradise on Earth and are convinced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is for empowerment of common masses and has no personal interest. He added that people also recognise that Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is unlike other dynasts who work for self and promote only relatives or sons and daughters. BJP, on the other hand empowers even the poorest person but who possesses potential to serve the country and work for the prosperity of people.

This is the reason, a lot of young boys and girls in Kashmir are writing their fate with their own hands and instead of getting drawn towards militancy choosing to set up their own businesses and also create employment for others. This is a changed picture of Jammu and Kashmir the credit of which goes to Narendra Modi who has a special place for people of J&K in his heart. Dr Varinder Sharma, however expressed his concern over growing drug menace and urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to fan police personnel in every nook and corner of the Union Territory (UT) to nail drug peddlers.

Appreciating the steps initiated by LG administration and especially J&K police for sealing the properties of drug peddlers, he said that more is needed to be done. The police though are running de-addiction centres and helping youth stay away from drugs but what’s needed is that suppliers and those into sales of drugs must be put behind bars. Dr Varinder Singh emphasised the need of involving youth in sports, social activities, startups, events and engaged in other activities that keep them busy and away from the menace of drugs.

He said efforts of the tourism department in sending a batch of young boys for training in paragliding is also an encouraging step and more such activities must be carried out on a regular basis. There’s a scope of grooming young boys and girls as tourist guides and work on homestays which will also keep them engaged. He added that Recent participation of people in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Srinagar was indicative of the fact that people are happy in a changed environment which earlier was toxic and full of bloodshed.

No political outfit like NC, PDP or Congress ever cared to free Kashmir of militancy which the BJP government led by Narendra Modi did in record time. It’s just a matter of time now when we will see the massive presence of multinational companies here and our youth getting engaged in productive work.
